Directed by Ridley Scott, Alien Covenant is the sequel of the highly acclaimed franchise from 20th Century Fox. In this movie, which takes place after Prometheus, a crew investigate a planet that has been colonized by humans with hopes to find a way to save Earth. When the planet lifeforms start hunting them, they have no choice but to team up with these human-like beings for survival. The movie offers mind-boggling visuals and an adrenaline-inducing thrill ride for sci-fi fans everywhere.
Aliens: Covenant is a 2014 science fiction horror film directed by Ridley Scott and written by John Logan, Dante Harper and Jon Spaihts. It is the sequel to Alien, and is a continuation of the series of films following the adventures of Lieutenant Ellen Ripley and space crew coming into contact with hostile extraterrestrial lifeforms. The film stars Michael Fassbender as David, who is an android and the primary antagonist. The stars of Scott's previous films had praised his return as one of the best sequels he has ever made along with Schwarzenegger's return as well as its ability to be compared with Prometheus. However, not all reviews have been enthusiastic about it. It will be followed by 20th Century Fox's Alien: Awakening in 2015, which will be directed by Jack Paglen.
The film received mixed reviews. It currently holds an approval rating of 42% on the film review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, based on 186 reviews with an average rating of 5.4/10. The sites consensus reads, "Alien: Covenant offers decent thrills and thrilling action suitable for fans of the franchise, but it offers few new ideas. On Metacritic the film has a score of 50 out of 100, based on 40 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".
